Jersey marina was undergoing a refurbishment programme and Queensbury’s brief was to design and install a new glazed canopy and balustrading for berths 4 and 5. The canopy was to provide a secure entrance down to the pontoons incorporating automatic sliding doors, keyless entry system, and also roller bollards to allow fuel hoses to be routed through the canopy.
The fabricated steel framework provided the main structure with an aluminium glazing system to allow all round retention for the glazing. The design utilised a gently curving polycarbonate roof with toughened glass side panels.
The canopy had to be designed to ensure installation could be undertaken on the bank side site with it’s restricted access.
